Why We Need to Dream Big

I really believe I can do it!

Not because I believe I can do it, but because I believe that God can.

Our God is always bigger than our dreams.

If we live and breathe and find our being in God, then the things we do will reflect that.

If we trust in His timing, His provision, and His will, then it will be evident in the way we handle our goals and our dreams.

But we must remember that we don’t need to give small dreams to a little God.

We may be small.

Our abilities and our accomplishments may be small, but when they are in line with God’s will and His ways, they become big.

Not because of what we do but because of who He is.

Dream big.

Set magnificent goals.

And when your goals come crashing down or your dream begins to feel like a never-ending nightmare of rejections, disappointments, and setbacks; keep going!

Because God never gives up on us.

His promises never fail.

His mercies never end.

His work is never done.

In the end, our goals and dreams, our aspirations, and our desires are ultimately about Him, His kingdom, and His purposes.

At least they should be!

If they aren’t, then we need to rethink what we are doing and why. We might need to examine our hearts, our purposes, and the intentions behind what we are doing.

Because if our desires are in line with His, then we sell ourselves, and our God, short when we fail to dream big.

You see, He has plans and a purpose for each of us. It is His desire to see them come to fruition.

Sure, we will falter at times. Sometimes our attempts will fail. Giving up and giving in will be a great temptation at times because it is really, really hard to dare to dream big and then to do what it takes to accomplish our goals.

But when we give up, we aren’t just giving up on our own endeavors; we might just be giving up on His plans for us.

His plans are always for our good.

So let us not weary in striving.

Let us not give up or give in, even when it’s hard and even when it hurts.

Because our big dreams might just be His, too!

Love this, it lines up with Psalm 37:4 perfectly! This is my favorite part- “But when we give up, we aren’t just giving up on our own endeavors; we might just be giving up on His plans for us.” AMEN!

Love this! Dreaming big is so important! I’ve been reading a lot about having dreams and turning them into reality lately. If we continue to trust in God and his will, our dreams can become our reality.

Such great encouragement, Heather! I certainly am small and there is only so much that I can accomplish; but that doesn’t mean that I should limit God by thinking that He has the same limitations as I do. Dreaming big is something I definitely need to learn to do more — because it also means having faith in Him and His ways. Thanks for sharing this!

“We are dangerous dreamers.” was a line we had to write in our sermon notes today. Several other things I’ve read this evening have been about faith…which is what our sermon was mostly about. I think someone is trying to tell me something. 😉

Beautiful! and a wonderful reminder! Why do we try to make God fit into our plans instead of growing into his? Great post. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

That’s certainly our human nature, isn’t it? Thanks so much for reading and for taking the time to leave an encouraging comment, Cheree! Blessings to you and yours.

Someone once said that God’s work in the world is a history of victory all cleverly described as defeats…the biggest being Christ’s death. We should never be afraid of failure because many times that is where God surprises us with our biggest victories 🙂

Very encouraging. 🙂 Thanks for the words today. 🙂 Yes, we do need to dream big. I know so many times I stop myself if the dream seems to unattainable. I should definitely trust God more.

We all need this reminder, don’t we, Keelie? Thanks so much for reading and for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Blessings.

Great reminder. I know that after the hardships of the last few years that I am dreaming small, I am in survival mode. I know that God gets us through daily, there is no other way that we are able to make it and we see his blessings. Soon I hope that we will be able to dream bigger but for now we are grateful that we still have each other. Thanks!

I’m so impressed with your attitude, Nikki. Times are tough for so many. Thankfully our God is so much bigger than our circumstances. Keep the faith and know that you and yours are in my prayers.
