Welcome to the 3rd installment of The Walking Series. If you’re just joining us, you can read Part 1 here and Part 2 here.

So far, we have discussed the idea that we need to walk worthy of our calling. If we are to be salt and light in this world, we need to know what that looks like in a practical sense.

We have looked at the truths of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ with respect to our position with God and how we can impact the world for Christ as a result. (Ephesians Chapters 1-3)

We have considered putting off the old man, putting on the new man, renewing our minds, and my Pastor’s thoughts that “a new life demands a new lifestyle”.

We have examined Biblical behaviors such as kindness, tenderheartedness, and forgiveness for the growth and edification of the body of Christ. (Ephesians Chapter 4)

Today, we continue walking through the book of Ephesians in Chapter 5 which begins with a reminder that we should be imitators of Christ by walking in love in the same way that He has “loved us and given Himself for us”. Continue reading →

One Word

One-Word

So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.               -Psalm 90:12

These are the things we want you not just to know, but to live out in your life: Continue reading →

by

prayer-shopping

A few weeks ago, my Pastor’s wife and I headed ” the big city” to do some shopping. Our goal was to purchase groceries and board games for our upcoming Youth Night hosted by our church.

However, when one travels two and a half hours for a Costco, you can imagine I’m going to take advantage of that opportunity and do a little personal grocery shopping.

And so I prayed. I prayed for days before. I prayed not just for a safe trip, but for how I shop.

There are several reasons I do this: Continue reading →

Wrestling with God

by

wrestling-with-god

The 32nd chapter of Genesis, among other things, tells the story of Jacob wrestling with God. That story has always intrigued me. As with many Old Testament stories, I often ponder not only their significance in Scripture, but what application they may have in my own life.If you’ve read the story, you know that after their little wrestling match, God changed Jacob’s name to Israel.

We cannot meet God and remain unchanged.
