The Valley

by

the-valleyContinuing the theme of valley and mountaintop experiences, today I’d like to share a poem with you in hopes that it encourages your walk.

If you missed the first three in the series, you can read them here: The Mountaintop Experience Part 1, Part 2, and 10 Reasons We Need Not Fear The Valley.

We’ve been visiting the idea that our mountaintop experiences are appreciated only after dwelling for a time in the valley. We’ve also looked at the truths found in Scripture that cause us not to fear our valley experiences.

Today, I’d like to share a poem and the story behind it. Continue reading →

Grateful For His Grace

by

Bible-and-cup

 Titus 3:1-7

When we talk about grace, we often find it more apt that God is greater at this than we. Yet, it is one of the most remarkable qualities of the believer that we seem to understand. It is probably the one biggest trait that separates the regenerate from the rest of the world. It has the amazing power to overcome our personal need for justice.

To emphasize my point, I want to share a story with you— Continue reading →

How To Have A Mary Heart In A Martha World

by

mary-heart-martha-world

It’s such a short story, and yet it convicts me every time.

The Bible astounds me. Not only does God love us enough write a love letter to us, but His Word is living and powerful. (Hebrews 4:12). I can read the same passages over and over again and learn something new each time.

In a Bible containing 66 books, more than 1,100 chapters, and over 32,000 verses, these 5 somehow seem to jump off the page and smack me over the head each time I read them. It doesn’t seem to matter how much I know this story, intellectually, it can take great effort and discipline to live it at times.

In Luke 10:38-42, we find the story of Mary and Martha. I’m sure you’re familiar with it. Continue reading →

Quotes to Live By…The Lessons Corrie Ten Boom Taught Us

by

heart-door

Born on April 15, 1892, Cornelia “Corrie” ten Boom was a Dutch Christian, who along with her father and other family members, helped many Jews escape the Nazi Holocast during WWII. She was imprisoned for her acts of courage, self-sacrifice, and love. You can read her incredible story of hardships and forgiveness in her book, also made into a movie, The Hiding Place. Corrie passed away April 15, 1983, but she left behind a legacy. Here are some of my favorite quotes and the Scripture verses they bring to mind.

If You Go To Do The Laundry

by

Colorful Clothespins Blue Sky

I went to fold clean clothes on my bed when I realized I hadn’t made my bed.

I put the clothes back in the dryer and went to make the bed.

On the way to make the bed, I saw tortillas on the counter. This made me remember there’s a family at church I need to cook for, so I started making enchiladas.

While I was making enchiladas, I got an email. I went to check it out and realized I needed to add something to the bulletin for church the next day, so I sat and worked on the bulletin.

While I was at my computer, I saw my checkbook and decided to work on balancing my accounts.

While I was balancing the accounts, my kids told me they were hungry. This reminded me of the enchiladas I was making. Continue reading →
