The Hardest Prayer To Pray

by

kneeling-prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that You would get the attention of (insert name/ names here) in whatever way is necessary. I love this person and wish them no harm. However, sometimes we need to come to the end of ourselves before we can come to You. Show them that You alone are God. Allow them to experience whatever it is that they need to experience that will make them realize that without You, nothing is possible. That life is empty and meaningless without the joy of the Lord. That our efforts are futile and in vain when they aren’t done in Your strength and power. Allow them just enough discomfort that they realize the need to release their grip on all things and place them into Your loving hands. Help them to realize that there is no salvation or provision aside from what You give. Bring on the pain if that is what is necessary to save their very lives. And, perhaps most importantly, allow me to be a light that shines over the darkness of their life so that they would want what I have in You, for their good and for Your glory. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen. Continue reading →

Timing Is Everything

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? ~Luke 18:7 (NIV)

Recently, I sent a DVD to some young lads who enjoy the old western movies and TV series. I wanted to share with them my love for the old time westerns. You probably don’t have the same passion for such things, but those movies were predicable and fun to watch. I always knew that the good guys would win out in the end, the wrongs would be made right, and the cavalry would always show up just in the nick of time. Continue reading →

Grace, Not Perfection

by

Grace
I so enjoy being a part of the online community.

I look forward to visiting my favorite blogs on a regular basis. I’m thrilled when I learn something new. I am moved when people share their hearts, their burdens, and their struggles. I appreciate being encouraged to grow in my faith with a wonderful devotion. Knowing how I feel about food, you can imagine how happy new recipes make me!

The thing is, we have to be very careful.

It is so easy for us to set standards based on the lives of others and set ourselves up for comparisons and competitions. This is dangerous, my friends, for it often leads to feelings of inadequacy, guilt, or discontentment. We must tread with caution. Continue reading →

Quotes to Live By…The Lessons Corrie Ten Boom Taught Us

by

heart-door

Born on April 15, 1892, Cornelia “Corrie” ten Boom was a Dutch Christian, who along with her father and other family members, helped many Jews escape the Nazi Holocast during WWII. She was imprisoned for her acts of courage, self-sacrifice, and love. You can read her incredible story of hardships and forgiveness in her book, also made into a movie, The Hiding Place. Corrie passed away April 15, 1983, but she left behind a legacy. Here are some of my favorite quotes and the Scripture verses they bring to mind.

…Well, you get the idea. And round and round it went, and it never seemed to stop.

Until I was; Tired, Burnt Out, Done.

This is where I was last Sunday morning as I sat in church. We had worship and a time of prayer after, and this is when God reminded me of what was missing. Continue reading →
