Welcome to the 3rd installment of The Walking Series. If you’re just joining us, you can read Part 1 here and Part 2 here.

So far, we have discussed the idea that we need to walk worthy of our calling. If we are to be salt and light in this world, we need to know what that looks like in a practical sense.

We have looked at the truths of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ with respect to our position with God and how we can impact the world for Christ as a result. (Ephesians Chapters 1-3)

We have considered putting off the old man, putting on the new man, renewing our minds, and my Pastor’s thoughts that “a new life demands a new lifestyle”.

We have examined Biblical behaviors such as kindness, tenderheartedness, and forgiveness for the growth and edification of the body of Christ. (Ephesians Chapter 4)

Today, we continue walking through the book of Ephesians in Chapter 5 which begins with a reminder that we should be imitators of Christ by walking in love in the same way that He has “loved us and given Himself for us”. Continue reading →

Light Up The Sky

As I stood in my kitchen the other night listening to this song, I fought back tears as I thanked God for the ways He has moved in my life.

Songs have an incredible way of bringing back memories don’t they? Though it has been a few years, I remember it like it was yesterday.

I can recall how my heart raced with fear as we heard the news. How we simultaneously cancelled plans and packed the car while trying to have faith and trust God. Continue reading →

A Letter To Our Son

When Solomon was given an opportunity to ask for God anything that he desired, he chose wisdom. By that very request we know that he already possessed a great dose of it, don’t we?

One of the greatest gifts we can give to you is to share the wisdom and knowledge of things we have learned in our lives. It is in that spirit that we share these with you.

These are the things we want you not just to know, but to live out in your life: Continue reading →

The Importance of Light

by

The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives light to the eyes of both. ~Proverbs 29:13 (NKJV)

It’s just after five A.M., and I am sitting here looking out one of three picture windows that we have here in this basement floor of the house. I am seeing a large valley surrounded by high mountains full of trees. There is also a large meadow below that I am able to make out, albeit dimly, movement of deer. Continue reading →

10 Reasons We Need Not Fear The Valley

by

10-reasons-valleyI recently shared my thoughts about the mountaintop and valley experiences we all go through in life. If you missed that, you can read The Mountaintop Experience: Part 1 and Part 2.

Today, I’d like to share a bit of encouragement with you if you find yourself currently in a valley. I’d love to give you 10 reasons from Scripture that we don’t need to fear our valley experiences.

Humanly speaking, it is difficult to do anything but fear during our trials, but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)

Let’s consider His word: Continue reading →

Let Your Light Shine

by

Bible-and-cup

“that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” ~Philippians 2:15 (NKJV)

The Book of Exodus gives us one example of a shinning face:  Moses had gone up to Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments from God. Scripture tells us that, when he came down from the mountain, “he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with God.”  Continue reading →
