The Gift

by

fancy-heart
Have you ever been given a gift that has profoundly changed your life?

A gift so generous, appreciated, and unexpected that nothing will ever be the same as a result?

A gift that makes you wonder what you could have possibly done to deserve it?

A gift that you wish you could somehow repay but you know is impossible?

A gift of such value that there just aren’t words to express your gratitude? Continue reading →

A Week of Thanks {The Basics}

by

fall-leaves3

I’ve been sharing this week that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and reminding us all of the fact that we have so much to be thankful for.

We’ve looked at the gifts of Salvation & Eternal Life and how much we have been given in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Yesterday, I shared my appreciation for family, friends, church family, and my online community of readers and bloggers.

While I do love living life with a daily attitude of appreciation for these incredible blessings in my life, I never want to take for granted some of the blessings we consider to be smaller and simpler. Yet to those who lack them they are everything. Continue reading →

Locks of Love…A Story of My Aunts & Uncles

by

Today marks the 10th Anniversary of one of the most heartbreaking days of my life. My beautiful Aunt Sharon ended her two and a half year battle with cancer and entered the arms of her Savior. She was such an integral part of my life that not a day goes by that I don’t miss her still.

About a year after her passing, I was missing her so much I could hardly stand it. I wanted with all my heart to do something. I knew I couldn’t bring her back, but I felt that I didn’t know how to move on. Continue reading →

The Art of Getting

by

Bible-and-cup

“The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.” ~Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV)

These past few weeks during our move back to the Great Northwest, my wife and I rediscovered the blessing of those who were willing to put themselves out for us. These people were willing to put a hold on their own world to enter our world to provide some needed help, and at a time when we could not give back. I thought of this Scripture. Continue reading →

Blogging For A Cause – An Update

by

hand-with-water

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.”                                        ~Matthew 25:35-36 (ESV)

Just after starting my blog, I posted about an idea of how this blog could be used to raise money for one of my favorite charities. If you’d like to read that post, click here. Go ahead, I’ll wait for ya.

Would you like to know how much you’ve helped me raise? Continue reading →

What Is Worship?

by

Bible-and-cup

“Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones,

Give unto the LORD glory and strength.

Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name;

Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”  ~Psalm 29:1-2 (NKJV)

When I was a kid, I used to love lying down on the front lawn looking up at the stars. I am sure you probably did, too. At the time they were just a wonderful curiosity to me. I had no concept of how they got there, or even why. I just thought they were magnificent to admire. Continue reading →

Christmas In July

by

advent-conspiracy

I know… I know… no one wants to think about Christmas in the middle of summer. Hang with me, though, I have a really good reason for mentioning it now.

You see, I’m a planner by nature. I like to plan meals, schedules, budgets, etc. July 1st means that this year is half over already.

That also means that Christmas will be here before we know it. We know it’s coming. It’s the same date each year. Most people, however, find themselves unprepared, financially, when the big day comes.

Speaking of finances, do you know how much we spend on Christmas gifts? Continue reading →

Our God Reigns

Psalm 97

As I am sure you have experienced from time to time, life can be quite unpredictable. Actually, I am glad that it is. Why? Because, given our penchant for worrying over the least little things, we would be a basket case by the time the predicted event came to pass. It is enough to know that things will happen that I am not prepared for. Many come to me in the form of testing.

So, how do we cope? I am convinced that the psalmist had the right idea. Believers have only to look to God for the answers to life’s challenges. Hope in the life of the believer is not some warm and fuzzy feeling, but a reality from God. Continue reading →

Blogging For A Cause

by

hand-with-water

Today I am going to stray from my usual format because I have an announcement to make.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon a blog called Corn, Beans, Pigs and Kids. (Click on highlighted title to visit her blog!) She has a section called “Comments for a Cause”. Val donates a set amount for each comment she receives on her blog to a new charity each month.

After reading her story, I went out to water and weed the garden. When I am alone in the garden, I often spend my time there in prayer. I prayed about how I could implement this system into my own blog, not just for God’s glory, but so that others would benefit. Continue reading →
