Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God.” -Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

I actually saw this Scripture reference over the exit of a barber shop one day. While I am familiar with the Scripture, I sometimes forget to allow it to have its way in my life.

I suspect you may have or have had this same experience in your life. I think we all suffer from it from time to time. It’s all about priorities in our life, isn’t it? We get so busy that we forget what’s really important. And before we know it things that we used to hold on to have slipped from our grasp.

It was A.W. Tozer who wrote that, It is characteristic of man to keep himself so busy that he is able to avoid the important matters relating to life and existence.” Continue reading →

The Mountaintop Experience

Today, I have the privilege of sharing A Sermon On The Mount at our Annual Ladies’ Retreat. As you cannot be with us, I wrote a shorter version to share with you. Imagine yourself hiking to a mountaintop, finding a seat on a rock, and considering the following:

The thing about mountaintop experiences is that we don’t appreciate them until we’ve spent some time in the valley.

When I think of the three most recent valley experiences I have had, I don’t exactly remember them with fondness.
