God Is For Us

I may have told you about my friend George once before. He’s a pretty big man. The kind I would describe as one who could go bear hunting with a switch and give the switch to the bear! But, George has a friend he calls “Big Larry.” I once met Big Larry and, sure enough, he was huge. George always said that when he and Big Larry were together, no one messed with him (George).

Conquering Faith

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” ~Romans 8:37 (NKJV)

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is found in the Book of First Samuel. It is the one about David and Goliath. I think everyone who knows the story is impressed by the fact that the “little guy” stood up against a giant (literally) and came out on top. We love these kinds of stories, don’t we? Our God Reigns

Psalm 97

As I am sure you have experienced from time to time, life can be quite unpredictable. Actually, I am glad that it is. Why? Because, given our penchant for worrying over the least little things, we would be a basket case by the time the predicted event came to pass. It is enough to know that things will happen that I am not prepared for. Many come to me in the form of testing.

So, how do we cope? I am convinced that the psalmist had the right idea. Believers have only to look to God for the answers to life’s challenges. Hope in the life of the believer is not some warm and fuzzy feeling, but a reality from God. Continue reading →
