Are You Listening?

“…has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…” ~Hebrews 1:2

I am in the throes of getting prepared to teach a study in the Book of Hebrews. As I was doing some research, my thoughts for this Morning Offering were guided to the entirety of the opening verses of this book: the whole notion that God spoke/speaks. In his book, William Newell quotes an old Puritan preacher who used to say that he desired to know two things: “First, Does God speak? Second, What Does He say?”

Contentment

I wonder how many of us are truly content with the lives we have.

How much time do we spend grumbling, complaining, and wishing our lives were different?

Do we lie awake at night with worry, or rely on a substance to get us through the day?

Do we let our circumstances determine our attitude?

How To Find Peace When The Fires Rage

As the worst fires in our state’s history rage a little too close to home, one cannot help but wonder about the what if’s. 

While I am choosing faith over fear, I cannot help but think practically about what we would do should evacuation, or God forbid, the loss of land, home, or property become a reality for us.

Character and Courage

The message one recent Sunday morning was about the faith of two characters from Hebrews chapter 11. My first example was Joshua. In order to provide the proper context of the message dealing with the faith of Joshua, I took the people back to Joshua chapter 1.
