More Than Enough

You are faithful, You are Savior

You are more than enough

The lyrics above are part of the song More Than Enough by the Newsboys.

Today, I would like us to ponder the question, Is Jesus really more than enough for us? Theologically speaking, He is more than enough. What I want to consider today is what our hearts and our minds think about the sufficiency of Christ.

The two simple lines above convey some pretty profound truths. He is faithful. (2 Timothy 2:13) He will never let us down, leave us, nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5-6) He is our Savior. Nothing else in the world can offer the salvation that is found in His name alone. (Acts 4:12)

If that was all Christ had to offer us, that would be more than enough.

You are Healer, You are holy

You are more than enough

He heals our diseases. He washes away our sin. (Psalm 103:3) He saves us from the penalty of death. He alone is holy. (Revelation 15:4) Those simple statements are full of the incredible power that is attributed to God alone. I think we could ponder them for a lifetime and still not comprehend the depth of their riches.

Lord of life in glory risen

Love has conquered both sin and grave

Heavens gates are truly open

Lord of life, King of Kings

The next time we face uncertain circumstances, let us remember that we serve a risen Lord. When our past threatens to condemn us, let us focus on the truth that His love has indeed conquered sin and the grave. When we fear, worry, or fret about our past, present, or future, let us remember that heavens gates are truly open and we have unrestricted access to a Father who loves us beyond comprehension. (Hebrews 4:16, John 3:16)

I’m alive in the arms of love

I lift my hands to the God above

Jesus, You are more than enough

Regardless of our circumstances, let us remember that we are alive in the arms of a God of love. (1 John 4:8) Let us resolve to not let the cares of this world cause us to hang our heads in despair. Let us lift our hands and hearts to a God who lives in us; a God who is for us, who protects us, and who saves us. He is enough.

In fact, He is more than enough.

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” ~Philippians 3:8 (NKJV)

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:19 (NKJV)

Dear Heavenly Father, today we lift our hands and our hearts to You for You are more than enough. Help us to remember that no matter what we are facing, we will never face it alone. Help us to remember who You are in the midst of our tragedies, trials, and temptations. No matter what we are facing, the answers and the solutions are always found in You. We thank You for the hope and the peace that that knowledge brings. Thank You for being enough. Thank You, God, that You are more than enough. We give You all praise and honor and glory that is due only You. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

I am so grateful for the many examples in Scripture that show us not only how to rest in his embrace, but how it goes when we don’t. When I find myself looking towards other things and my own sufficiency, I am always left wanting and wandering. When I choose His kingdom over mine, I am left satisfied. He is truly faithful, so much more than enough. May we lift our hands and hearts to our precious Lord and savior, King Jesus!

That’s funny! I read a blog post yesterday that put “Give Me Jesus” in my head. I’ve been singing it since then. Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comment. Heading over now to check out your FB page.
