3 Things We Wish We Had Done When We Had More Money

October 27, 2014 by

Things have not always been as tight for our family as they are now. They’ve always felt like they have been, but as our income has consistently declined over the last 8 or so years, we’ve had to learn to make do with less and less.

In retrospect, we had it pretty good before. We had consistency and reliability. Now we have neither. I wish we had realized then how good we had it. Instead, we focused more on how little we had.

They say hindsight is 20/20, right? I’m sharing this personal information in hopes that you can learn from our experience.

Here’s what we wish we had done then:

Last week, I was honored to share this Guest Post at The Humbled Homemaker. Erin’s blog has been a blessing to me over the years. I hope you will spend some time getting to know her as she blogs about natural living the grace-filled way.

Oh Heather — You are right about 20/20 hindsight – I know we all wish we had been wiser in the past. But Past is past. We have today and God. and that is a fantastic combination!

HE promises to provide all our needs = maybe not wants — but NEEDS! Know that I am praying that even today – God will bring you some special joy — in whatever form HE feels best. Thank you Jesus!

Do Take care and know that I am praying for you and your blessed family! Keep on sharing your heart! I am sure you are touching MANY lives and all to HIS Glory:)

You are so right, Bonnie. We need to learn to leave regrets in the past. The only thing good about past mistakes is that they help us learn so we can do better today. His mercies are new every morning. Thanks so much for your prayers and your encouragement. Know that you are in ours as well. Love to you, my Sister-in-Christ.

I read this most last year and I meant to tell you how wise your advice was! God knew what I needed when I married a banker and a money saving genius! Because of his sound advice and gentle leadership, he has definitely steered our family into the right direction, especially as we keep adding babies to the mix! Loved your post, thanks for sharing Heather 🙂

Thanks for reading and for your encouragement, Victoria. I”m so glad to know that you won’t have to learn by making mistakes like we have. Can’t wait to see the pics of the new baby. Blessings to you and yours.
